ROSG completes filming today on a new feature docu-drama recounting the story of infamous informer, James Carey, who was shot dead on board the SS Melrose off the coast of South Africa in 1883, and the subsequent hanging of Patrick O’Donnell a Gaeltacht man convicted of the murder.
The same team that brought Murdair Mhám Trasna to our screens has reassembled for this powerful telling of an extraordinary story, following extensive research that Seán Ó Cuirreáin has undertaken for ROSG.

The main characters if the feature docu-drama are portrayed by critically acclaimed actors; Stephen Jones, Eoghan Mac Giolla Bhríde, Brídín Ní Mhaoldomhnaigh and Sophie Campbell.
Directed by Tomás Seoighe, produced by Ciarán Ó Cofaigh, Eilís Ní Cheallaigh and Seán Ó Cuirreáin, DOP Burschi Wojnar and designed by Margot Cullen. This docu-drama is a produced by ROSG with funding from TG4, Screen Ireland and The BAI.
