ROSG is delighted to announce they have been granted funding from the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) under the Sound & Vision Scheme to produce a feature documentary based on the critically acclaimed new book written by Seán Ó Cuirreáin based on the wrongful hanging of three men in Connemara for the murder of a family in Maamtrasna in 1882.
Ciarán Ó Cofaigh, ROSG said “We are very proud to undertake such an important project as this.”
“While this is a Gaeltacht story there are national and international aspects to it as well. As producer I’m excited to bring this adaptation of the book to screen.”
The new book, Éagóir, presents new evidence about the case, whereby three men were wrongfully hanged and five others were sent to prison for 20 years, a gross injustice that resonates to this day.
